Bloomcabin 3 panels without glazing bars, folding right. This outward-opening bi-fold door has 3 panels without glazing bars and folds to the right. Its minimalist design creates a generous connection between indoor and outdoor spaces while reinforcing a calm, contemporary architectural style.

Why choose this Bloomcabin design?

  1. Open glass view

Three panels without glazing bars give the glass areas a calm, expansive appearance. The deliberately reduced design brings light, views and the bi-fold door’s clean outlines into focus.

  2. Defined folding arrangement

The bi-fold door folds to the right and opens outwards. This clearly specified movement direction makes it easier to incorporate the door into the planned room layout and façade design.

  3. High energy efficiency

The comfort-focused construction supports high energy efficiency and helps maintain a pleasantly cosy interior when the door is closed.

This right-folding, outward-opening bi-fold door is suited to transitions where an unobstructed glass view is the priority. Three panels bring a crisp, understated look to living spaces and outdoor areas. The balanced proportions help coordinate the design with the architecture and the intended façade effect. Before configuring, choose the version that best suits your building project and personal design brief. Its uncluttered arrangement keeps the overall composition calm and contemporary.

An outward-opening bifold door creates a generous transition through several connected folding panels. The panels open outwards and fold to the right. This operation differs clearly from a single hinged door and should be considered in the spatial planning from the outset. Centor hardware with high-security multipoint locking is included.

We make the bifold door to measure and offer a choice of material, colour and handle. Pine and oak are available, either in timber or aluminium-clad versions. Choose 2- or 3-pane insulating glass and named designs without muntins, with horizontal muntins, or with horizontal and vertical muntins. This lets you specify dimensions, material character, glass layout and operation for your project.

01

Operation and everyday use

The folding panels open outwards and fold together to the right. During operation, move the connected elements in a controlled way into the intended folded position. This differs from a single hinged door: the opening is opened and closed through several linked panels. Anyone using the bifold door regularly should understand the opening direction, folding movement and locking.

Allow for the movement direction in front of the opening and at the right-hand folding side. Adjacent building elements and permanently placed items should not obstruct intended operation there. Clearly mark the inside and outside, viewing direction, and side to which the panels fold on a drawing. This makes it easier to coordinate the bifold door with the actual installation location.

Centor hardware with high-security multipoint locking is used for operation and locking. Treat the panels as one connected system when opening and closing, and operate the handle and lock without unnecessary force. State the opening direction, right-hand folding and handle choice together in your enquiry so the required version is described clearly.

The handle also shapes everyday use and the visible design. As a handle selection is available, coordinate this choice with timber species, colour, aluminium cladding and muntin pattern. Record the required handle variant separately, rather than expecting it to be inferred from a drawing or overall view. A clear specification is especially helpful where several doors or windows are planned for the same project.

02

Construction, component dimensions and confirmed product data

The bifold door is available in pine, aluminium-clad pine, oak or aluminium-clad oak. This provides two timber species, each selectable as a timber version or with aluminium cladding. State the complete material version in your enquiry, as aluminium-clad versions have different component dimensions.

The frame component measures 187 × 60 mm; with aluminium cladding it measures 197 × 60 mm. The door panel is specified as 82 × 76 mm, or 92 × 76 mm with aluminium cladding. Each dimension relates to the expressly named component. The overall size of the made-to-measure bifold door is set separately for your project and should not be confused with frame or panel dimensions.

The installation holes have a specified dimension of 14 mm. Separately, the overall size of the made-to-measure bifold door is adapted to the project. Record the existing or planned structural opening and the desired element size as separate details. Also identify what each measurement refers to and the points from which it was taken. This keeps the measurement basis clear across several drawings or design stages.

The bifold door is CE marked and fitted with Centor hardware including high-security multipoint locking. We provide a five-year warranty. For the specific version, also define the overall size, material option, colour and handle, as well as the required glazing and muntin pattern. For an aluminium-clad option, name this material version expressly because it has its own frame and door-panel dimensions.

03

Insulating glazing and glass details

Choose the bifold door with 2- or 3-pane insulating glass. Both options include a heat-reflective coating, a CHR warm-edge spacer and argon fill. State the required number of panes explicitly in your enquiry and list it separately from the muntin design. This keeps the glazing build-up and visual division clearly distinct even in extensive project documents.

The choice between two and three panes forms part of specifying your made-to-measure bifold door. Record this decision with the overall size and material version, rather than identifying it only on a drawing or elevation. If several door or window products are requested for one building, clearly allocate the relevant glazing build-up to every element.

Black rubber is used for the glazing seals. Consider this visible black finish when coordinating glazing, muntin pattern, timber species, colour and possible aluminium cladding. Keep glazing seals separate from other material and colour preferences in your specification.

Glazing and muntin design are two separate choices. Options include versions without muntins, with one to four horizontal muntins, and versions with two, three or four horizontal muntins plus one vertical muntin. The available combination depends on the named panel design. Therefore use the full design name and separately state whether you require 2- or 3-pane insulating glass.

For the overall effect, consider whether you prefer a largely uninterrupted glass view or a more divided composition. Muntins can echo lines in adjacent windows and façade elements, while a muntin-free version appears calmer. Where possible, view the selected pattern across the complete made-to-measure unit, because the individual element size affects how the divisions are perceived.

04

Named panel and muntin designs

Two clearly named muntin-free designs are available: “3 panels without muntins, folding right” and “5 panels without muntins, folding right”. This lets you choose a composition with three or five panels when no additional division of the glass view is required. Right-hand folding is part of both versions.

For horizontal division, choose from “3 elements with 1 horizontal muntin, folding right”, “3 elements with 2 horizontal muntins, folding right”, “3 elements with 3 horizontal muntins, folding right” and “3 panels with 4 horizontal muntins, folding right”. As the number of muntins increases, the glass view is divided into more stacked sections. Select the specific version for the overall effect you want.

Additional vertical division is offered by “3 elements with 2 horizontal muntins and 1 vertical muntin, folding right”, “3 elements with 3 horizontal muntins and 1 vertical muntin, folding right” and “3 elements with 4 horizontal muntins and 1 vertical muntin, folding right”. Use the complete name in your enquiry so both the number of horizontal muntins and the additional vertical muntin are specified unambiguously.

Make the selection in two steps: first decide whether a muntin-free or divided view suits your project better. Then choose only one of the available combinations with the appropriate number of horizontal and vertical muntins. Note that the five-panel version is named as a muntin-free design, while the listed muntin patterns belong to designs with three panels or elements.

Without muntins, the continuous glass view takes centre stage. Horizontal muntins create a clear top-to-bottom division, while the added vertical muntin subdivides the composition further. Coordinate the pattern with the overall size, façade lines and adjacent windows or doors. Colour, timber species and handle can also influence the result and should be assessed together in one overall view.

05

Assess the intended opening carefully

As the bifold door opens outwards and folds to the right, the installation situation must suit both movements. Record the structural opening separately from the desired order size and clearly identify the points between which measurements were taken. The inside and outside, along with the viewing direction, should be clearly marked in the documents. With a made-to-measure product, every number needs a clear reference so opening, element size and spatial allocation are not confused.

Outside the opening, allow for the panel movement and folding area. Include neighbouring walls, projections, balustrades, steps, eaves, drainage elements, lights and permanently positioned items in your assessment. The area where the folded elements sit on the right also forms part of the spatial check. These are project checkpoints, not a statement of a universally required clearance.

Include the finished floor build-up in the planning. Thresholds, finishes, falls and level changes can affect the spatial setting of the opening. Distinguish between existing and planned surfaces, and note if the final floor level will change during the build. A section drawing or dimensioned sketch can help explain the shell condition and planned finished condition clearly.

Also consider how the opening will be used each day. Frequent routes, furniture on both sides and the position of adjacent doors or windows can all matter to the layout. Check these points at the actual installation location and record relevant details in your documents. A sketch showing viewing direction, inside and outside, and the right-hand folding side usually communicates the intended arrangement faster than an unannotated list of dimensions.

The order size should not be calculated from the component dimensions of the frame or panels alone. A made-to-measure product needs a clear basis that suits the intended installation situation. When sending measurements, state whether they show an existing structural opening, planned rough opening or desired element size. This keeps every detail traceable.

06

Material character, composition and colour selection

Pine and oak each bring their own timber character to the design. Which look suits your project depends on adjacent surfaces, the interior and the intended architectural expression. The range also includes aluminium-clad pine and aluminium-clad oak. The chosen timber species remains part of the respective material version.

Colour selection is available as part of the purchase decision. Choose the specific shade together with the material and cladding type. Existing windows, doors, façade surfaces, roof details and interior finishes can serve as design references. This does not mean everything must be finished in the same shade. Depending on the design, a quiet match or a deliberate contrast can both work well.

Coordinate the muntin design with timber species, colour, aluminium cladding and handle. Horizontal lines can echo adjacent windows or façade elements, while an additional vertical muntin produces a stronger division. With a muntin-free version, the continuous glass view comes to the fore. Consider these decisions together so material character and linework create a coherent overall appearance.

For a multi-panel bifold door, assess the complete elevation where possible rather than one panel alone. The available versions differ through three or five panels and their respective muntin arrangement. How strong or restrained a division appears also depends on the individual overall size and neighbouring components. An elevation sketch with the complete design name makes comparing several versions easier.

Record the required colour separately from the timber species, aluminium cladding, handle, black glazing seals and hardware. This makes clear which visible surfaces your colour selection applies to. Use existing façade, window and interior colours as guidance, and decide consciously whether the bifold door should pick up these tones or create a design contrast.

07

Related product types for other project areas

For other entrances, panelled door leaves may be an appropriate product category. The related outward-opening entrance door is made from pine and includes an infill panel; versions with glass use 2- or 3-pane insulating glass. For interiors, a panelled pine internal door is available with a right- or left-hung leaf. Both categories address different planning needs from a multi-panel bifold door.

As an alternative to folding, two product types are also available in which a door panel slides sideways. Both come in pine or oak and in aluminium-clad versions, and can be fitted with 2- or 3-pane insulating glass. One version uses Siegenia hardware with high-security multipoint locking; the other uses Roto-Frank hardware. First decide whether the relevant opening requires folding or sideways sliding.

For patio access, single- and double-leaf versions with inward-opening tilt-and-turn panels are also available. They are offered in pine or oak, each also with aluminium cladding, and use Roto-Frank hardware. Their inward opening differs spatially from the bifold door described here. Check separately for each installation location which movement direction suits the room layout, circulation routes and furniture.

Where daylight is needed but no opening passage is required, fixed-glazed windows can be included in the project plan. A rectangular and a round non-opening version are available. Both come in pine or oak with 2- or 3-pane insulating glazing; the rectangular fixed window also has aluminium-clad variants. This clearly separates openings with different functions within one building concept.

Other suitable products include: Outward-opening entrance door with infill panel, Panelled internal doors, Siegenia sliding doors, side-sliding, Single-leaf patio door, inward-opening, Double-leaf patio door, inward-opening, Patio Life lift-and-slide doors, Fixed-glazed windows, Round fixed-glazed windows.

08

Prepare your enquiry in clear steps

Start with a clear description of the installation location. Identify the inside and outside, the type of building project and the function of the planned opening. Add a clear sketch or suitable elevations where spatial relationships are difficult to explain in words alone. Use consistent terms so the same side is not described differently in different places.

Then collect the relevant measurements and identify what they mean. Record whether they relate to an existing structural opening, a planned opening or a desired element size. As this is made to measure, no unannotated measurement should remain. Building-specific details can be added in a short note without prematurely defining a technical solution.

Next select the material version: pine, aluminium-clad pine, oak or aluminium-clad oak. Add the required colour and handle choice as separate details. This shows which decision concerns the base material, which the external cladding, and which the visible design. Avoid collective terms when a precise material description is possible.

Specify the required glazing build-up and muntin design. Use the complete named design wherever possible, including folding to the right. If you are considering several designs, clearly identify which version is preferred and which is included only for comparison. This prevents different patterns from being unintentionally combined.

Finally, check that measurements, specification choices and right-hand folding are described consistently throughout all documents. A sketch or elevation can supplement the allocation of inside and outside. This keeps your enquiry clear and links it unambiguously to the intended installation situation.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions about outward-opening bifold doors

What size are the installation holes?

The installation holes have a specified dimension of 14 mm. This differs from the component dimensions of the frame and door panels, and from the overall size of the made-to-measure bifold door.

Can I choose a colour for the bifold door?

Yes. Colour selection is one of the available purchase choices. Coordinate the preferred shade with the façade, interior, adjacent elements and material version so the bifold door suits your project visually.

Is there a choice of handle?

A handle selection is available. In your enquiry, consider both the desired appearance and everyday operation. Record the handle choice clearly together with material, colour and folding direction.

How do I choose between pine and oak?

Pine and oak differ chiefly in their natural timber character. Both are also available with aluminium cladding. Your preferred interior effect, external design and planned surface scheme are the deciding factors.

How do muntins change the look of the bifold door?

Horizontal muntins divide the glass areas into stacked fields. An additional vertical muntin extends this division. Without muntins, the design is calmer and places stronger emphasis on the continuous glass surfaces.

What details are useful for an unambiguous enquiry?

Send us the dimensions of the intended opening and identify what each measurement refers to. Add the inside and outside, right-hand folding, material version, colour, handle, 2- or 3-pane insulating glass and the full name of the required muntin design. A dimensioned sketch or suitable elevations help allocate the installation location and movement direction clearly.

How long is the warranty for the bifold door?

The outward-opening bifold door has a five-year warranty. Keep the documents for your individually specified version so the material, dimensions, glazing, colour, handle and chosen muntin pattern remain clearly documented.

Is the outward-opening bifold door CE marked?

Yes, the outward-opening bifold door is CE marked.
