Arugula is an aromatic, spicy leafy green that’s very popular in Italian cuisine. In addition to its bold flavor, it’s packed with nutrients! Many studies show that consuming plant-based foods like arugula can reduce the risk of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease while supporting healthy skin and weight balance.
Plant information:
- Edible plant (Eruca sativa)
- Germinates: in 7–14 days
- Harvest: after 5–6 weeks
- Optimal temperature: 18°C – 24°C
Arugula grows slowly at first, but once germinated, it speeds up. After about three to four weeks, you can start harvesting individual leaves or wait until the whole plant is fully developed around week five – the choice is yours!
Note that arugula loves warmth and thrives in temperatures between 18 and 22°C. Too high a temperature can delay germination and trigger early flowering. If it starts to bloom, you can use the small white edible flowers for decoration – but after flowering, don’t expect many new leaves.
