4-Person Thermowood Barrel Sauna

Extra room for deeper relaxation HALO Comfy 225 keeps the barrel sauna’s compact length but opens up a wider, taller cabin than standard barrel models. Four people have room to settle in, making it practical for family use or visits with friends. Quality Thermowood gives it a natural finish that can suit a city backyard, cottage property or rural setting.

What sets the HCF 225 apart?

  1. Thermowood prepared for outdoor conditions: The timber is heat-treated naturally, without chemicals, to improve resistance to moisture, mould and weather exposure. It is presented as a durable, environmentally conscious material.
  2. Measurements that create usable space: Outside, the cabin measures 227 cm in length, 229 cm in width and 238 cm in height. Its 196 cm benches sit beneath a 210 cm interior ceiling, leaving added room to recline and move comfortably.
  3. Shared comfort for 4: Families or groups of friends can share the cabin, with enough bench room to sit upright or recline.
  4. Two heater options: Select a wood-fired unit for traditional sauna character or an electric unit for simpler daily operation. Before installation, ask a qualified local professional to verify the heater approval required at the destination and all site-specific conditions, including chimney and fire rules where relevant.
  5. A practical self-assembly format: Prepared components arrive with clear directions, helping keep the self-assembly process organized and efficient.

Spacious barrel sauna for up to four people

HCF 225 barrel sauna – short exterior length with generous interior height

The Bloomcabin HCF 225 pairs an exterior length of about 227 cm with a roomy sauna cabin. At approximately 229 cm wide and 238 cm high externally, it offers around 210 cm of interior height and benches measuring about 196 cm long. These proportions define the model: compared with a lower barrel sauna, it gives much more headroom for standing upright while retaining an exterior length of about 227 cm. The HCF 225 accommodates up to four adults. That figure is a maximum capacity, not a promise of identical personal space in every situation. With four people inside, the cabin is primarily arranged for shared seating. Used by one or two people, the bench may also allow stretching out, depending on height and preferred posture. There is no changing room in the HCF 225; the enclosed space is dedicated entirely to the sauna cabin. Before ordering, weigh the value of a taller cabin and longer benches against the need for a separate enclosed area. Consider the height of regular users, usual group size and whether you prefer sitting or reclining, rather than choosing by capacity alone.

Dimensions and interior space

HCF 225 at a glance

Up to 4 people

Up to four adults can use the cabin together. With two users, the extra space offers more choice of where to sit, and the bench may allow you to stretch out depending on height and posture. Capacity is only part of the decision. Base your choice on how many people usually use the sauna at the same time and whether you prefer shared seating or more room between users.

Approx. 227 × 229 × 238 cm

The approximate exterior dimensions of 227 × 229 × 238 cm represent the assembled sauna’s length, width and height. They are not foundation dimensions or the sizes of individual delivery components. For an initial site check, compare each axis separately with the available space and identify the narrowest point where boundaries are irregular. The installation documents then determine the precise position of the structure and its supports. Allow additional room separately for door operation, assembly and future maintenance.

Approx. 210 cm interior height

An interior height of roughly 210 cm gives this taller barrel profile added headroom. It is easier to stand upright, and the curved ceiling feels less confined than it does in a lower model. Taller people may notice the benefit most when rising from the bench or entering and leaving the cabin. Check the full exterior height separately to make sure the site has enough overhead clearance.

Benches approx. 196 cm long

A bench length of about 196 cm says more about seated and reclining comfort than capacity alone. Compare it with your height and preferred resting position. Whether you can lie lengthwise depends on your build and posture. When several people are using the sauna, the benches principally serve as shared seating, leaving less room to stretch out.

Wood and barrel design

FSC®-certified thermowood for outdoor use

The HCF 225 is made from FSC®-certified thermowood. Thermal treatment reduces moisture uptake and improves dimensional stability. This is valuable for an outdoor sauna exposed to changing weather as well as the shifts in temperature and humidity between sauna use and cooling. Thermowood remains a natural material, so variations in grain and colour, along with gradual visual change, are normal. Even treated wood needs a well-drained location and regular inspection. Avoid standing water, splashback from the ground and accumulated leaves. To retain the original colour for as long as possible, use care products expressly suitable for the particular wood and surface. Exterior cladding, interior walls and benches have different requirements; a product intended for the outside is not automatically appropriate for surfaces that contact skin during sauna use.

This tall barrel shape combines the familiar rounded sauna form with substantially more headroom than a lower version. Rounded walls do, however, make the interior different from a rectangular cabin: there are no vertical wall surfaces at the upper and lower edges. Do not plan shelves, furniture or later accessories from a straight-sided dimension drawing alone. Use the actual clear interior space and the manufacturer’s specified mounting locations.

Wood-fired heating

Wood stove depending on the selected configuration

Depending on the chosen configuration, the HCF 225 may be supplied with a wood stove. This option suits users who are prepared to manage the firing process and have suitable dry firewood storage. Unlike simply switching on a heat source, it requires more preparation: load and supervise the stove according to its instructions. Before ordering, confirm exactly which heating components belong to the selected version. Do not rely on product imagery to determine what is included; check the stated configuration and the relevant installation and operating documents.

Keep dry firewood sheltered from weather and well away from hot components. Heat-up time depends on factors including starting temperature, amount of wood, operation and the sauna climate you want, so no fixed time can be given. Follow the stove manual when lighting, refuelling and adjusting airflow instead of starting with an excessive fuel load. Never leave the fire unattended. Remove ash only once it presents no fire risk, and place it in a suitable non-combustible container until final disposal.

The chimney route, heat shielding, floor beneath the stove and safety clearances must suit the stove and chimney system actually selected. Follow the technical requirements of the relevant manufacturers and the requirements for the installation site. Resolve these points before assembly, since later changes to a wall penetration, roof area or protective surfaces can be much more involved. Do not use self-selected replacement parts for flue routing or heat protection unless they are expressly approved for the system. Before lighting the stove for the first time, inspect all connections, clearances and moving parts after installation. The stove operating manual remains the authority for fuel, use, supervision and cleaning.

Preparing the site

Prepare the installation pad, foundation and access route carefully

The HCF 225 is wider than the HC 225. Check available width as well as length, and leave room for assembly and maintenance. Measure in several places if walls, fences, eaves or dense planting restrict the site. A plan view alone will not reveal overhead obstacles. Allow for the door swing, a comfortable access route and enough space to inspect or treat exterior surfaces later. Do not position the sauna so tightly between other structures that parts of it can be reached only after dismantling something. Watch for branches, downspouts and irrigation equipment that direct water onto the wood or obstruct access. The route from the house to the sauna should remain clear year-round; temporary stepping surfaces, loose cables and stacked firewood do not belong at the entrance.

The base must remain load-bearing, level and stable so the structure is supported evenly without distortion. The right foundation depends on site conditions and the installation requirements. Assess level, bearing capacity and drainage together before assembly. In areas exposed to freeze-thaw cycles, have a local professional determine how the site and foundation should be prepared rather than relying on a detail chosen for a different climate. Rainwater needs to drain away from the structure so lasting damp does not develop beneath the wooden construction. Soil and vegetation should not touch wood parts or prevent them from drying. After heavy rain, check whether water pools or flows toward the sauna from surrounding ground. A drainage channel added later cannot correct a base that settles or carries loads unevenly. Plan the foundation and sauna together from the outset.

Because the HCF 225 has no changing room, the exterior door opens directly into the sauna cabin. Provide a dry, sheltered place outside for robes, towels, shoes and personal items. It should be easy to reach without blocking the door swing or exit. Firewood and stove accessories need separate, suitable storage. A secure surface in front of the door also matters. Slippery wet areas, loose mats, unstable paving and trip edges are poor choices there. Exterior lighting can make access easier after dark; it must suit the intended location and be positioned so it does not obstruct access or assembly.

Comparing two models

HCF 225 or HC 225?

The HC 225 has about 175 cm of interior height, is designed for two to three people and is more compact overall. It suits those who need less capacity and are comfortable in a lower cabin. Taller users should note that reduced interior height can noticeably affect both the feeling of space and ease of standing up. Compare not only exterior length, but also user height, usual occupancy, preferred sitting posture and the available width and height at the site.

By comparison, the HCF 225 offers around 210 cm of interior height, benches about 196 cm long and room for up to four adults. Since there is no changing room, all of its additional space belongs to the sauna cabin. It is a strong choice where headroom and more flexible bench use matter more than a separate enclosed area. With fewer users, the interior feels more open; with family or guests, extra seating is available. Consider whether these benefits will be used regularly and whether the larger space requirement suits your property.

If the differences are hard to picture from drawings, temporarily mark interior heights of about 175 and 210 cm on a wall. These marks show only the height difference, not the rounded cabin shape, but they help the tallest regular users judge the value of extra headroom. For the HCF 225, also mark out a 196 cm length to compare bench length directly with body height. Assess usual group size separately: suitable headroom does not indicate how much room you will want when seated together. Only then should the available site decide between the roomier HCF 225 and the more compact HC 225.

Everyday care

Caring for outdoor thermowood

Inspect wooden surfaces in a consistent sequence so less visible areas are not missed. Start with the upper exterior surfaces and work down to lower components. Pay particular attention to transitions, edges and areas close to the ground. Look for unusual distortion, opening joints, damage and areas that dry much more slowly after rain than nearby surfaces. If useful, record observations with a date and photo so the next inspection can show whether conditions have changed. Do not sand or coat affected areas too quickly. First consult the care instructions, as an unsuitable product or local treatment can produce an uneven finish.

Check the wood, barrel bands, screw connections, door and seals regularly. Correctly seated bands and connections help a barrel sauna keep its components in their intended positions. Make adjustments only as directed in the product documents: overtightening can be as problematic as ignoring visibly loose parts. The door should close freely without rubbing on the floor or frame. Keep seals clean and remove trapped dirt. Ventilate the interior after sauna use until remaining moisture has escaped. Do not dry damp textiles in the closed cabin. Once cool, clean benches and frequently touched surfaces using a suitable method, then let them dry fully before the next heating cycle. Also inspect joints and the undersides of benches, where moisture can be less obvious.

Use cleaning and care products only where they are suitable for the specific material and surface, and follow the stated dosage. Harsh household cleaners, abrasive tools and unsuitable coatings can damage wood fibres and affect colour and skin-contact surfaces. A pressure washer is unsuitable because its concentrated jet can damage the surface and force moisture into joints. Instead, remove loose dirt gently and with as little additional water as possible. Maintain the stove, chimney area and protective components only in accordance with their respective instructions, and allow hot parts to cool completely first. Remove leaves and plant debris from the exterior without damaging the wood with sharp tools. Then confirm that the door and technical components still function correctly and that ventilation paths remain clear.

Ordering and delivery

Confirm what is included, along with access and local requirements

Review the selected configuration carefully because the stove, controls, sauna stones, chimney parts and protective components can vary. List everything needed for your planned heating solution and check it against the items expressly included. Accessories shown in product photos are not automatically supplied. Make sure the stove, stones, flue route and protective parts form the intended system. If specialist work or inspection is needed, arrange it before the assembly date. Keep the product documents available for assembly, first use and future maintenance. Sort delivered packages and fittings against the delivery documents before installation, retaining labels until every item is identified. Check all parts for completeness and visible transport damage. Document discrepancies on arrival, and clarify damaged, missing or unidentified components before assembly.

Before delivery, inspect the full route from unloading point to installation site. Gates and narrow garden paths are not the only obstacles: stairs, tight turns, slopes, soft ground and low branches can make handling difficult. Account for locations where larger components cannot be turned or set down safely. Clear the route in good time, keeping vehicles, garden furniture and other obstacles away. At the site, leave enough space to sort components methodically and store them safely for a short period. Protect delivered wood from ground moisture and precipitation before assembly as directed. Assemble the sauna using the supplied instructions. Arrange required helpers, tools and specified lifting equipment before work begins.

Before work begins, ask the municipal permit office which approvals, setbacks, provincial or territorial building provisions, and wood-burning appliance rules apply to the property and selected heater. Canada’s National Model Codes are models; they do not establish a single permit rule for every location. Advice from another municipality or from a differently equipped building may not fit your project. Have an appropriate local professional assess the foundation and site snow and wind conditions, and confirm chimney routing, clearances and current fire restrictions for a wood stove. Ask the relevant electrical regulator and a qualified local electrical contractor about notification, inspection, equipment approval and connection requirements. Do not run temporary cables across walkways or improvise cable routes through the sauna. Add confirmed distances from property lines, buildings and combustible areas to your site sketch. Further guidance on preparation, use and coordination is available under Useful information.

Bloomcabin HCF 225

Who is the HCF 225 for?

The HCF 225 is a good fit if you want a tall barrel sauna for up to four people and put the sauna cabin ahead of an integrated changing room. It is particularly relevant for taller users who find a lower barrel shape restrictive, and for households planning to use the sauna alone, as a pair or with up to four adults. When one or two people are inside, the approximately 196 cm benches may also provide enough length to stretch out, depending on the user’s height and posture. The HCF 225 is not the best fit if you need enclosed changing or storage space, or if a lower, more compact cabin already covers your needs. Choose for the comfort you expect to use regularly, rather than a maximum capacity needed only occasionally: extra headroom and seating help only when they suit the users and their preferred positions.
