Spacious barrel sauna with long benches for up to six adults

Bloomcabin LC 300 – spacious thermowood barrel sauna

The Bloomcabin LC 300 is a spacious outdoor sauna for families, guests and regular sauna sessions. Its body measures approximately 301 cm long and around 194 cm wide, with internal benches about 229 cm long for up to six adults. It suits buyers who will regularly benefit from the extra bench length while still allowing for essential access and working space at the site. Before ordering, decide on the usual group size, preferred sitting or reclining position, and the heating option that can be installed safely. Depending on configuration, the LC 300 is available with an electric or wood-burning heater. Because electrical and wood-heater installations need different preparations, this choice forms part of site planning.

Product profile

What distinguishes the LC 300

Room for up to six adults

The stated capacity refers to a fully occupied sauna. If you prefer more personal space, use large towels, or wish to change position during a session, plan for fewer people in everyday use. This helps you assess whether the LC 300 suits your usual sauna group and how comfortably the available bench space can be used.

Approximately 301 cm overall length

Garden planning involves more than the sauna’s length. Leave clear space for access, assembly and later inspections. At around 194 cm wide, the LC 300’s barrel shape may also suit narrower parts of a property. The door area, working space and paths must not be restricted by walls, plants or other garden structures.

Internal benches around 229 cm long

Bench length is an important difference from more compact barrel saunas. It allows flexible seating and, depending on height, may permit a stretched-out position. Before buying, mark out the length at home with a tape measure. You can then judge more realistically whether your preferred sitting or reclining position fits the interior.

Choice of electric or wood-burning heater

The heating type is part of the ordered specification. Choose it only once you know which installation can be professionally completed at the intended site. Electric and wood-burning heaters differ not only in operation, but also in connection or flue arrangements, protective measures and ongoing care. The requirements of the specific LC 300 configuration are therefore decisive.

Material and construction

Barrel made from FSC®-certified thermowood

The LC 300’s heat-treated timber absorbs less moisture and is more dimensionally stable than untreated wood. This benefits an outdoor sauna but does not replace careful site preparation or regular inspections. Wood remains a natural material: variations in colour and grain, plus gradual colour change, are normal. Heat, cooling and changing humidity affect the interior, while the exterior is exposed to weather. Water must not remain around the base or collect on individual surfaces. Good airflow helps the barrel construction dry. Do not place objects, covers or dense planting directly against the outer wall where they could trap moisture.

Inspect the barrel bands and structural connections regularly, and after major weather changes. Look for even tension, loose areas and other visible changes. Make adjustments only in line with the assembly and care instructions: tightening without cause can be as unsuitable as ignoring a loose connection. Include support points, door operation and joints between timber elements in the inspection. If the door suddenly no longer closes freely, the structure may be standing unevenly. Investigate the cause of distortion, unusual gaps or persistently damp areas, including the base. Work on load-bearing or very hot areas requires competent professionals. Do not use improvised replacement parts there.

Heating choice

Electric or wood-burning heater – choosing the right version

An electric heater offers convenient, predictable temperature control, but requires a suitable electricity supply at the planned site. Before ordering, ask a REWS-authorised electrical professional with the appropriate scope to assess the connection and whether the proposed cable route is practical. Heater and controls must match the selected LC 300 configuration; a generic heater is not a suitable substitute. Plan the position of electrical components, a protected cable route, and future access for inspection and maintenance. Extension leads and temporary garden connections are not suitable for permanent sauna use. The electric version often suits those who do not want to store fuel and prefer straightforward heat control. Follow the documentation for the selected equipment and Maltese electrical requirements for connection and operation.

A wood-burning heater uses a manually managed fire. Regular use therefore includes providing dry fuel, lighting the stove, monitoring combustion and removing ash afterwards. During site planning, competent professionals should determine the suitable flue arrangement and project-specific protection around hot components. The route to fuel storage must stay dry and safe to walk; in Malta, account for strong sun and sudden rain. Firewood must not obstruct sauna access, project clearance areas or maintenance space. Before lighting, inspect the firebox and air paths as directed by the stove manufacturer. Remove ash only when completely cool and store it in a suitable container. A wood-burning version suits users prepared for this extra operation and care. Before installation, obtain project-specific advice on the flue, combustion air, fire safety and planning requirements.

Only equipment intended for the ordered LC 300 configuration may be installed. Protective components must not be removed or replaced with merely similar-looking parts. During operation, keep the area around the heater clear of towels, sauna accessories and other combustible items. Children and anyone unable to operate the heater safely need appropriate supervision. Follow the instructions for the heater and controls actually supplied for commissioning, heating, sauna infusions, switching off and maintenance. Before first use, check that all documents for the exact equipment are available and that operation is clearly understood.

Site preparation

Plan the base, drainage and access properly

The LC 300 needs a level, permanently load-bearing base that supports every contact point securely and evenly. A surface may look level yet settle, shift or change because of loading or water exposure. An existing terrace is not automatically suitable; its construction and load capacity should be professionally assessed first. Include the complete sauna, chosen heater equipment and later user load in the planning. Do not level unevenness with loose timber pieces or other temporary packing. A carefully prepared base makes assembly easier, supports smooth door operation and avoids uneven loading of the barrel structure. The right foundation solution depends on the ground, available area and local conditions and should be decided before delivery.

Keep sufficient space around the sauna for assembly, inspections and future care. Barrel bands, lower timber elements and technical components must remain accessible. Too little clearance from walls, fences or dense planting makes installation harder and prevents exterior surfaces from drying. The route to the door should remain safe when wet and must not be narrowed by stored items or firewood. Also plan how components and tools will reach the installation area without permanently blocking other garden spaces. Assess access throughout the year and in poor light; wet leaves and rain can make paths much less secure.

Effective drainage prevents rainwater or cleaning water from standing permanently below the timber structure. The installation area should direct water away without collecting it at support points, in front of the entrance or on neighbouring paths. Consider where water from the rest of the property flows after heavier rainfall. A low, apparently sheltered corner may be unsuitable if moisture gathers there. Roof or garden drainage must not discharge directly onto the barrel sauna. The chosen solution must also suit local requirements and the actual ground conditions. Check the area during rain after installation to identify puddles or splashback repeatedly affecting the same timber sections. Make ground adjustments before moisture causes visible damage.

Choosing a model

LC 300 or LC 260 – which length fits better?

The LC 260 is the shorter alternative and is also designed for several people. Mark out the external dimensions of both models at the proposed site. Keep the door area, access route, assembly space and care areas clear as well. This shows whether the additional length of the LC 300 conflicts with walls, planting or other garden structures. Only when both layouts work in practice should interior use decide the choice. On a limited plot, the LC 260 can preserve more circulation space; where there is enough room, the LC 300 offers a longer usable bench area. This helps you choose not merely a sauna that just fits, but one that remains easy to reach and maintain.

Assess the LC 300 around a typical sauna session rather than an occasional full occupancy. Its internal benches of around 229 cm allow a regular group to spread out more flexibly; free sections can make sitting down, standing up and changing position easier. Consider not only how many people fit inside at once, but how much bench space your preferred seating arrangement really uses. If large areas remain unused during normal sessions, the additional length adds little. If the extra room is regularly used, it is the key advantage over the more compact alternative.

If only one model can be installed with adequate clear space, the site determines the choice. If both versions fit, let the bench space used in everyday life decide: the LC 260 suits a lower length requirement, while the LC 300 shows its advantage only when additional bench room is regularly needed. Maximum capacity is only a guide. More important is whether the chosen length suits typical occupancy without taking unnecessary garden space.

Care and operation

Care for the interior, benches and exterior timber gently

After every sauna session, allow the interior to air thoroughly and dry. Follow the product and heater instructions so residual moisture can escape and all intended ventilation options are used correctly. Remove damp towels, seat pads and swimwear immediately; textiles left on benches lengthen drying time and can encourage discolouration. During sauna use, a sufficiently large towel protects the seating surface from direct contact with sweat and skin. Once the interior has cooled, remove loose residue with a soft brush or suitable cloth. Check especially beneath benches, in corners and near the floor, where moisture is easily missed. Close the sauna for a longer period only when all surfaces are dry. Persistent odours or recurring damp patches should not be masked with fragrances; instead, check ventilation, cleaning and water drainage.

UV exposure gradually changes thermowood’s colour and may cause natural greying. If you accept this development, exterior care can focus on cleanliness, drying and regular inspection. To retain the warmer timber tone longer, use only a care product suitable for heat-treated exterior wood. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for preparation and possible colour effects; a test area in an unobtrusive place helps assess the result. Care products must not affect ventilation routes, fittings, seals or technical components. Work only on dry, cooled surfaces and never while the sauna is in use. Interior surfaces face different conditions from the weathered exterior, so exterior products must not be used in the sauna room without checking suitability. Care should preserve the timber properly, not conceal every natural change.

Use gentle cleaning methods that do not raise the wood grain or leave residues in the warm interior. A pressure washer is unsuitable because the powerful jet can force moisture into joints and damage surfaces. Avoid aggressive, abrasive or heavily perfumed products. Remove dirt promptly, but only after the heater and interior have cooled completely. Cleaning products must be suitable for sauna timber or the relevant component and used sparingly as directed. Metal parts, door components and technical equipment may require different care instructions. Before the next heating cycle, all treated surfaces must be dry and free from cleaning residues. Regular visual checks of benches, floor area, door, barrel bands and support points help identify changes early.

Preparing your order

Clarify configuration, delivery route and local requirements

Check the scope of supply for the selected LC 300 version carefully. The heater, controls, sauna stones, flue parts and protective components may be included differently depending on configuration. Product images do not replace a reliable parts list. Compare the order summary with the technical information and clarify before purchase which components are supplied and which work must be arranged separately. For the electric version, this particularly concerns professional preparation and completion of the connection. For the wood-burning version, plan the full flue route and all necessary protective measures. Do not select additional components only because connection dimensions appear to fit; confirm that they are suitable for the exact equipment. Plan tools, assembly helpers and completion of the foundation in good time, so installation is not interrupted by missing or unsuitable parts.

The delivery route does not end at the property gate. Check the full route from the accessible unloading point to the prepared installation area. Consider access width, load capacity, gate openings, bends, slopes, steps, low branches, roof overhangs and other narrow points. Measure critical passages rather than judging them by eye. The transport route must suit the intended handling method and be clear of loose objects. Decide where packaging and components can stand temporarily without obstructing paths or placing timber directly on damp ground. Before delivery, the installation area should be complete, accessible and checked. If lifting or transport equipment is required, allow enough manoeuvring space. Use the delivery information to clarify responsibility for unloading and onward transport, and which aids must be available on delivery day.

Before choosing the final site, check the planning, clearance and installation requirements for the property. Under Malta’s Development Notification Order, permission depends on the applicable class, site restrictions and other requirements; neither a domestic garden nor a removable kit establishes permission by itself. Ask a perit to assess the footprint, height, enclosure, land designation and existing permit conditions. Also consider neighbouring buildings, property boundaries and existing services. For an electric heater, involve a REWS-authorised professional with the appropriate scope early, so the cable route and technical design are settled before assembly. For a wood-burning heater, obtain project-specific advice from the relevant authorities and competent professionals about the appliance, flue, combustion air, fire protection and clearances. After installation, keep the assembly documents, heater instructions and details of supplied components together. Further guidance is available in outdoor sauna preparation and use guidance.

Questions about buying and using

Frequently asked questions about the Bloomcabin LC 300

Can you lie down on the long benches?

Yes, depending on your height. The internal benches are approximately 229 cm long. Mark out this measurement at home before buying and check whether your head, feet and sauna towel fit within the usable length. Consider your preferred reclining position rather than comparing only your height with the bench measurement. Once one person uses a bench while lying down, fewer seats remain available at the same time. “Up to six adults” therefore describes a sauna used fully as seating; allow for lower occupancy when combining sitting and reclining.

What should be checked before the first sauna session?

Assembly and technical installation must be fully completed before first use. Use the supplied documentation to check that all intended components are fitted, connections inspected and protective components correctly installed. The door must operate freely; remove tools, packaging and assembly residue from the interior. With the electric version, commissioning may begin only after the connection has been professionally completed and tested by an appropriately authorised electrical professional. With a wood-burning heater, the stove, flue and fire-protection measures must be completed in accordance with local requirements and manufacturer instructions. Before heating, familiarise yourself with guidance on sauna stones, ventilation and operation. Observe the sauna carefully during its first operation. Unusual noises, smoke where it should not appear, electrical irregularities or impaired door operation are reasons to stop using it and have the cause professionally assessed.
