Growing mini tomatoes at home lets you experience every stage of gardening all the way to a rich harvest. No experience? Don’t worry! We’ll guide you through the entire growing process. In the end, you’ll be rewarded with delicious and nutritious fruits you grew yourself.
Mini tomatoes are rich in fiber, vitamins, and lycopene – an antioxidant that helps reduce the risk of certain diseases. Adding homegrown mini tomatoes to your salads, snacks, or sandwiches is a step toward a healthier diet!
Plant information:
- Germination time: 7–14 days
- Harvest: after 14–18 weeks
- Optimal temperature: 20°C – 35°C
Warning! Only ripe mini tomatoes are edible – the rest of the plant is toxic and should not be eaten.
To speed up germination, increase the temperature to 26°C. Tomatoes love warmth and don’t tolerate sudden temperature changes like drafts. They grow best around 30°C. If multiple plants sprout in one capsule, keep only one to ensure enough space and nutrients.
Don’t prune mini tomato plants before they start producing fruit. Once yellow flowers appear, they need pollination – gently shake the plant or use a small brush to transfer pollen between flowers. Remember – not all flowers will become fruit.
