Aluminium Greenhouse FAQs

How many size options are available for Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses?

Bloomcabin is rapidly expanding its range, which already includes more than 20 products. Greenhouse sizes depend on the particular model.

For the Classic Premium greenhouse we offer the broadest available floor-area selection, from 3.77 to 18.84 m² with a height of 232 or 252 cm.

For gardeners and garden-design enthusiasts, the large Bloomcabin Orangery offers an impressive 70 m² of space and a distinctive shape.

If you need a particularly compact aluminium greenhouse for a balcony or patio, we recommend the Mini model with an area of 0.74, 1.07 or 1.4 m² .

Where the intended site allows a medium-sized greenhouse, the lean-to greenhouse model can be an excellent choice. It sits elegantly against the wall of a larger building while still providing generous room for your hobby.

To see the available sizes for each aluminium greenhouse model in detail, open the relevant product and check the matching section of the product configurator on the right-hand side of the page.

Which glazing types can be selected for Bloomcabin greenhouses?

Available glazing options can vary by aluminium greenhouse model . For the standard greenhouse with its classic design, we offer:

  • Polycarbonate – a popular, budget-friendly, lightweight and highly durable material with strong impact resistance, making it an excellent choice for this type of structure when exposed to the weather.
  • 4 mm toughened safety glass – especially durable, long-lasting and clear. It allows plants to receive what they need for efficient photosynthesis and successful growth, which can support higher yields.
  • 4 mm toughened self-cleaning “Bioclean” glass – glass that repels rainwater and other dirt. Its special coating improves clarity in wet weather, helping the glass stay cleaner for longer without marks from droplets and deposits.
  • 4 mm toughened mirror glass – for improved light diffusion and temperature control in the greenhouse. It reflects sunlight and reduces the heat it creates, making it a good solution when adapting an aluminium greenhouse as a relaxation space.
  • 4 mm toughened solar-control glass – specially coated, reflective “Stopsol” glass that effectively shields the space from sunlight and the heat it produces. It also offers extra privacy, but may be less suitable for growing plants.
  • 4 mm toughened white frosted glass – an attractive way to diffuse light evenly inside the greenhouse and protect plants from direct sun. Frosted glass also provides privacy, making it a suitable choice when combining plant growing with a relaxation area.

The configurator offers a distinctive option: select different glazing solutions for the greenhouse roof and side walls.

For more information about each glazing type, open the configurator for the relevant product and select the explanation icon or “?”.

How long is the warranty for Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses?

Bloomcabin takes pride in the high quality of its products and provides all aluminium greenhouses with a 12-year warranty, with the terms supplied when your order is delivered.

The warranty period and conditions are the same for every Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouse model. They set out storage, assembly and operating requirements that must be met for the warranty certificate to remain valid.

If you would like advice about possible changes to the greenhouse structure or appearance, we recommend contacting our customer service team first. They can clarify how a change may affect both the structure itself and compliance with the conditions of the warranty certificate.

You can read the main warranty conditions here .

Can the greenhouse glass withstand impacts from large hailstones?

As standard, the greenhouses are fitted with 4 mm thick, highly durable toughened safety glass. This glass is produced by intensive heating followed by rapid cooling, creating internal stresses that make it up to 7 times more resistant to impacts from hail and other small objects.

Because the size and intensity of hailstones cannot be predicted, the warranty terms do not provide for repair of damage caused by this type of natural event.

For added peace of mind, Bloomcabin recommends considering greenhouse insurance through an appropriate insurance provider.

What is Accoya, the wood used in limited design-series greenhouses from Bloomcabin?

Accoya® wood is exceptionally strong and durable. It is made from Radiata Pine sourced from sustainably managed forests and undergoes a patented, non-toxic treatment that modifies the timber right to its core.

This distinctive treatment makes Accoya® one of the world’s most durable timbers. It is ideal for cladding and outdoor structures and provides a service life of at least 50 years. Accoya® uses FSC-certified timber from sustainable sources.

Because of these outstanding qualities, Bloomcabin has chosen to add Accoya® design elements to its design-series models. We are the first and only manufacturer of aluminium greenhouses to offer this kind of design solution.

How long do production and delivery take for Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses?

Delivery for Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses usually takes between 2 and 6 weeks, depending on the chosen model and configuration.

Adding optional accessories to the standard specification can affect order processing, because Bloomcabin takes a sustainability-focused approach and does not hold accessory stock for individual requests that may not be used.

Should the planned delivery period change because of production delays, late material deliveries or seasonal demand, we will notify you promptly and clarify the delivery date.

You will receive details of your order’s planned production and delivery timing by email after it has been accepted and processed.

Order processing begins when you receive the order confirmation by email.

Why are prices and offers for Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses so affordable?

Bloomcabin combines the latest technologies with the innovative thinking of a professional team to optimise production processes as efficiently as possible, reduce costs and shorten lead times. This approach saves time and uses resources carefully, which lowers the final product price while continuing to meet the highest premium quality standards .

All Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses are manufactured at our factory under rigorous quality control.

The Bloomcabin team brings together outstanding product engineers with extensive experience in developing high-quality design products and structures.

Our aim is to make aluminium greenhouses of premium quality available to more customers worldwide. We therefore continue our steady growth and introduce innovations to keep prices low over the long term.

What type of aluminium is used in Bloomcabin greenhouse structures?

The greenhouses are made from aluminium profiles especially suited to this type of construction, offering high strength and resistance to weather and other environmental influences.

Aluminium is highly corrosion-resistant, does not crack and provides lasting stability for greenhouse structures.

All aluminium parts are finished in the customer’s chosen shade from the RAL colour chart. The coating is applied through a high-quality, professional powder-coating process for an excellent surface finish.

The aluminium structure is joined so that the aluminium greenhouse remains exceptionally stable and resilient over time.

What optional equipment and accessories are available for Bloomcabin greenhouses?

Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses are made to a personalised specification defined by each customer. Choose the suitable options in the configurator on the right-hand side of each product page.

Additional costs are shown for every design feature, accessory and other element. Click the “?” symbol for an explanation of each option.

The range of equipment, sizes and other categories may vary by greenhouse model according to what is technically possible for that model.

Options include greenhouse size and height, roof glazing, side-wall glazing, decorative glazing bars, 36 RAL colour shades, and greenhouse-door solutions, including extra doors at other positions in the greenhouse with or without a lock. You can also select decorative roof elements, roof-window mechanisms (a manually opened roof window is standard), fabric curtains, an integrated chimney connection, and enquire about greenhouse installation availability, location, price and timing.

Are Bloomcabin greenhouses suitable for areas with heavy snowfall?

Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses have undergone weight-load testing, which determined that the maximum permitted load caused by snow is 2.3 kN/m² .

Although the greenhouse structure and its 4 mm-thick panes of toughened glass are capable of withstanding the stated load, Bloomcabin recommends regularly clearing the greenhouse of accumulated snow to help avoid any damage to, or deformation of, the structural components.

Snow and ice left to accumulate over a long period can also affect the visual condition of both polycarbonate and glass.

Are Bloomcabin greenhouses suitable for areas with strong winds?

Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses were tested, establishing a maximum permitted wind load corresponding to 21 m/s. If winds at your site exceed this value, Bloomcabin recommends placing the greenhouse in a sheltered location or choosing a wall-mounted aluminium greenhouse model instead, where suitable for your property.

Is the greenhouse delivered fully dismantled or partly assembled?

To help ensure safe delivery and prevent damage to the structure and components, all Bloomcabin greenhouses are supplied dismantled. Their compact, carefully designed packaging can reduce transport costs and make unloading at your address easier, including where access needs to be planned before delivery.

All required documentation is enclosed with the package, and assembly instructions can be downloaded here . Tools required for assembly are not included.

For questions about greenhouse installation, please contact our customer service team for helpful guidance before you begin.

Must greenhouse installation be carried out only by certified specialists?

The design of Bloomcabin greenhouses has been carefully designed in every detail so installation is not limited to professional, experienced installers. However, to avoid mistakes that could affect the appearance or structural quality of the greenhouse , we recommend entrusting the work to qualified installation professionals. They can save you time and effort, make the process of creating your ideal greenhouse more enjoyable, understand the assembly requirements and have the necessary tools available. Installation availability, pricing and timing should be confirmed for your location.

It is important to follow every step in the instructions precisely, as this may affect compliance with the conditions of the warranty certificate.

Does Bloomcabin offer greenhouse installation services in New Zealand?

Contact us to ask whether professional installation is available in your New Zealand area, and to confirm the price and timing. Service depends on location and project details, so no installation or quotation is confirmed until we assess your request.

An experienced installation team can assemble your greenhouse efficiently and accurately, saving you time and effort when available.

Does an aluminium greenhouse need building consent?

Whether building consent is needed for a freestanding greenhouse depends on its design, dimensions, foundations, services, site and use. Any exempt work must still comply with the Building Code.

Council district-plan rules can separately require resource consent through controls on site coverage, yards, recession planes or permitted activities. Before building, ask your council to assess the property, boundaries, stormwater and proposed use.

An attached greenhouse or conservatory also needs a project-specific council assessment, particularly when enclosed, heated, connected to services or attached to your home.

Do greenhouse structures need extra treatment or painting before installation?

All aluminium elements of the greenhouse arrive ready for assembly. The aluminium profiles are painted at the Bloomcabin factory, so no further treatment is needed.

When unpacking the greenhouse components, avoid scratches that could damage the finish and appearance of the aluminium. The coating protects the components from outdoor conditions during continued use of the greenhouse.

Does the greenhouse site need to be prepared in advance?

Before starting assembly, make sure the intended site provides sufficient space for the dimensions of your future greenhouse . The foundation beneath the structure must be firm, stable and level to prevent tilting, bending or other distortion of its frame.

Bloomcabin recommends a paved foundation to reduce problems in changing weather, such as soil washout from rainwater or movement caused by frost and thawing. Check drainage and ground conditions before preparing the base.

Do Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouse models with a masonry base include bricks or another foundation solution?

Bricks and any other materials you choose for constructing the foundation are not included with the greenhouse delivery.

The foundation must be built properly because the complete greenhouse structure is installed on it. This directly affects not only the appearance of the greenhouse, but also its function and long-term durability.

If you are considering a greenhouse model with a masonry base, check foundation options and local council requirements before placing your order. Building-consent exemptions, Building Code duties and district-plan controls are separate considerations that depend on the site, design, foundations and intended use.

What packaging is used for an aluminium greenhouse delivery?

Each Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouse is delivered in a particularly compact, robust wooden crate.

Each component is carefully packed separately and placed in a purpose-made crate on a pallet, making it easier to load and unload from the delivery vehicle.

The package measures approximately 1 m high, 2.4 m long and 1 m deep.

Important: follow all handling instructions on the packaging, including the warning not to place other items on top of the crate.

The package may be transported horizontally or vertically, depending on the delivery provider's available transport arrangements in your area.

How much does delivery cost for Bloomcabin greenhouses?

How should the foundation be prepared for installing a greenhouse?

For a sound, safe installation of the greenhouse prepare a level, stable foundation. In New Zealand, foundation depth, drainage and materials should suit the site’s soil, rainfall, wind exposure and local frost conditions. The Latvian example of ground freezing to 80 cm is not a New Zealand design rule. Check with your council or a suitable professional where soil movement, boundary requirements, services or drainage could affect the project.

A concrete foundation or a ready-made base frame is recommended for durability and secure support.

Concrete is among the most durable options. A concrete layer of 10–15 cm is recommended, with a thicker perimeter edge of up to 20 cm for extra stability and frost resistance. Reinforce the concrete with wire or steel mesh to reduce cracking and support long-term durability. Before pouring, lay at least 10 cm of compacted, level gravel or crushed stone. Pour the slab on the prepared ground, checking that it is level and horizontal. Provide drainage so water cannot collect beneath the foundation. Concrete blocks or foundation brackets can also be used to strengthen the base. Confirm that the proposed foundation and greenhouse meet applicable Building Code and council requirements for your site.

A paved base is more flexible and suits smaller greenhouses well. Lay paving 5–7 cm thick over a compacted gravel or crushed-stone layer of 10–15 cm. Put geotextile beneath the paving before installation to limit weed growth and prevent the materials from mixing. A paved base drains well and is straightforward to install, but may provide less stability for larger structures. Ensure the finished surface is level and the edges are properly restrained.

A timber deck can provide a base for the greenhouse but must be strong and weather-resistant. Treat timber bearers against moisture and insects. Build the deck frame from robust timber, for example 5×10 cm members, supported by a stable foundation or concrete blocks. Decking boards should be suitable for outdoor use, protected against moisture and fitted with small gaps for drainage and airflow. Keep the deck clear of direct soil contact by using foundation blocks or levelling supports to help prevent timber decay. Check that the deck is completely level with a spirit level, as unevenness can affect the operation of the greenhouse doors and the structure’s stability.

A gravel base is a simple, economical choice. Apply a 10–15 cm gravel layer over well-compacted ground. Lay geotextile before adding the gravel to reduce weed growth and stop the layers from mixing. Gravel offers good drainage and is easy to install, although it may be less stable for larger structures. Use a suitable edging system and make sure the greenhouse base can be fixed securely where required.

Recommendations for every foundation type:

Level the ground: Before building the foundation, make sure the ground surface is even, firm and stable.

Provide drainage: The foundation needs effective water runoff to avoid pooling beneath the greenhouse .

Choose suitable materials: Select materials appropriate for the size of your aluminium greenhouse and its expected loads.

Consider local conditions: Choose foundation materials and depth with regard to your New Zealand site, including soil movement, rain, wind and any local frost risk. Check project-specific consent and planning requirements with your council.

Inspect the foundation regularly: Check its condition and make necessary repairs to maintain the stability and safety of the greenhouse .

Caring for your aluminium greenhouse

What is Accoya® wood?

Why are Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses available at such affordable prices?

At Bloomcabin , we expertly combine experience with advanced manufacturing technology . This ideal combination streamlines production processes, saves time and reduces the resources required for manufacturing. We make our full product range in-house, with quality as our priority .Our aluminium greenhouses are produced under the guidance of professional engineers, who determine the best solutions for every technical and aesthetic detail. This efficient approach helps us offer lower product prices while maintaining the highest quality standards.

How should an aluminium greenhouse be cared for and maintained?

Inspect the visual and technical condition of the greenhouse regularly so that defects, or accumulations of moss, leaves and other debris in gutters, on the roof or elsewhere, can be identified and removed promptly.

Regular care and cleaning are particularly important in spring, before the main growing season, and in autumn, once it has ended. The greenhouse should be cleaned thoroughly by washing the frame and glass or polycarbonate panels with warm water and a mild detergent. Use a soft sponge or cloth to prevent scratching the surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners or pressure washers, as these can damage the finish and rubber seals.

Clear leaves and dirt from the gutters regularly to prevent standing water and damage, especially in winter, when freezing water can expand and distort parts of the structure.

To avoid moisture build-up and mould, check the joints and ventilation mechanisms at least in spring and autumn.

Aluminium does not rust, but dirt and deposits can collect on its surface over time. Clean aluminium parts with a neutral cleaner, then rinse with clean water. Because the aluminium profiles are powder-coated, avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the paint’s protective coating.

Check that seals around the glazing and other rubber components are not damaged, dried out or displaced. Replace them if needed. This helps maintain the tightness of the greenhouse and retain the internal temperature.

Once a year, inspect all connections and make sure screws and fixings remain tight. Strong winds and temperature changes can gradually loosen them.

Where snow occurs in winter, remove substantial accumulations with a soft broom or snow shovel to avoid excessive loading. The aluminium structure is robust, but too much weight can place stress on the glazing.

Make sure vents are securely closed during wind and snow, while allowing gentle air circulation if the greenhouse is used for winter growing.

To maintain maximum light transmission, remove dust and water deposits from the glass, particularly on hot days.

Bloomcabin recommends neutral, environmentally considerate cleaning products that contain no acids or solvents. This protects both the structure and your plants.

Regular care, careful structural inspections and gentle cleaning help your Bloomcabin aluminiumgreenhouse keep its immaculate appearance and reliable function for many years.
