Aluminium Greenhouse Questions Answered

How many size options are available for Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses?

Bloomcabin is rapidly broadening its selection, with more than 20 products already available. Greenhouse dimensions and formats depend on the particular model chosen.

The Classic Premium greenhouse has the widest span of floor-area choices, ranging from 3.77 to 18.84 m² and comes in heights of 232 or 252 cm.

For gardeners and outdoor-living enthusiasts, the spacious Bloomcabin Orangery offers an impressive 70 m² of space and a distinctive shape.

For a compact aluminium greenhouse intended for a balcony or terrace, the recommended choice is the Mini model with areas of 0.74, 1.07 or 1.4 m² .

Where the intended site can take a greenhouse of moderate size, the lean-to greenhouse model offers an elegant solution. It rests neatly against an existing main building, yet leaves generous room for your gardening interests.

For the dimensions offered across the aluminium greenhouse model open the page for the model concerned and use the relevant configurator area shown beside its product information.

Which glazing options are available for Bloomcabin greenhouses?

Available glazing choices may differ by aluminium greenhouse model. Our classic greenhouse range can be specified with:

  • Polycarbonate – a widely used, economical option that combines low weight with exceptional toughness and impact strength. Those qualities suit a structure that must withstand variable weather.
  • 4 mm toughened safety glass – notably robust, long-lasting and transparent. Its clarity gives crops the light required for effective photosynthesis and vigorous development, helping gardeners pursue a more productive harvest.
  • 4 mm toughened self-cleaning Bioclean glass – the specially treated surface causes rain and grime to run off more readily and keeps views clearer during wet spells. Panes therefore remain clean longer, showing fewer water spots or lingering deposits.
  • 4 mm toughened mirrored glass – distributes daylight more broadly and moderates greenhouse temperature. By reflecting sunlight, it limits the heat entering, which is particularly useful when the greenhouse will double as a restful garden room.
  • 4 mm toughened solar-control glass – reflective Stopsol glass whose coating redirects solar rays and curbs the accompanying heat inside. Extra screening improves privacy, although this option can be a poorer fit where cultivating plants is the priority.
  • 4 mm toughened white and frosted glass – gives the structure a refined finish, softens incoming daylight across the interior and shelters plants from direct sun. The opaque appearance contributes privacy as well. It is the most appropriate option when one greenhouse needs to accommodate both plant cultivation and a comfortable area for unwinding.

A further distinctive feature lets you combine separate glazing choices across the greenhouse roof and side walls through one configuration.

For specifications on any glazing option, visit that product’s configurator and choose its information symbol or the “?” prompt.

How long is the warranty for Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses?

Bloomcabin is proud of the high calibre of its products. Every aluminium greenhouse carries a 12-year commercial warranty, with the applicable conditions enclosed when delivery takes place.

Across all Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouse models, both its length and terms are identical. The certificate stays effective only when its storage, erection and operating requirements are followed.

Anyone planning adjustments to the greenhouse construction or visual design should first consult our customer service advisers. They will outline what the change could mean for the structure and whether the certificate conditions would still be observed.

A summary of the basic warranty provisions can be viewed here .

Can greenhouse glass withstand large hailstones?

In their standard specification, greenhouses use highly robust 4 mm toughened safety glass. Manufacture involves heating it intensely and then chilling it quickly. The resulting stresses within the pane give up to 7 times the impact resistance when struck by hailstones or other small items.

Neither hailstone size nor severity can be predicted, so damage arising from this kind of natural occurrence is excluded under the commercial warranty conditions.

To reduce the financial risk, Bloomcabin recommends asking appropriate insurers whether they can provide cover for your greenhouse.

What is Accoya wood, used in Bloomcabin’s limited Design Series greenhouses?

Accoya® combines notable strength with lasting resistance. The raw timber is Radiata Pine, sourced from forests managed on sustainable principles. A patented process, which is non-toxic, then alters the wood throughout, reaching all the way to the centre.

That method gives Accoya® a place among the planet’s longest-lasting timbers. It suits façades and exposed outdoor structures, with an assured useful life of no less than 50 years. The Accoya® supply is FSC-certified and comes from sustainable forestry.

Those characteristics are why Bloomcabin chose Accoya® detailing for models in its Design Series. No other maker preceded us in bringing this particular design treatment to aluminium greenhouses, and we remain its sole manufacturer.

What are the production and delivery times for Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses?

Typical delivery for Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses falls within 2 to 6 weeks, with the chosen model and its configuration determining the schedule.

Adding accessories beyond the standard specification can alter the time needed to process an order. Bloomcabin follows a sustainability-led policy, so it avoids holding bespoke accessory inventory that might ultimately go unused.

Should the forecast change because production is delayed, materials arrive late or seasonal demand rises, we will advise the customer promptly and provide a more precise delivery date.

After the order has been accepted and processed, an email will set out its expected completion and delivery schedule.

Processing is deemed to begin when the customer’s order-confirmation email arrives.

Bloomcabin is expanding steadily and operates dedicated webshops across more than 19 countries.

Where a destination has no purpose-built Bloomcabin webshop , please contact us about placing an invoiced order and arranging delivery individually. Bloomcabin serves every part of Ireland, islands included; free delivery applies to most products, subject to each item’s terms.

We are continuing to broaden the webshop network so customers around the world can reach more of our product range.

Why are Bloomcabin aluminium prices and offers so competitive?

Bloomcabin pairs advanced technology with ideas from a specialist team. We continually improve how each greenhouse is produced, reducing both expense and turnaround time. Careful planning also lets us make sensible use of labour, materials and other resources. Customers therefore receive a more affordable product without compromising the demanding standards behind our premium-quality products.

All Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses are produced at our own factory, where each stage is subject to rigorous quality checks.

The Bloomcabin team brings together accomplished product engineers whose background covers the development of refined products, thoughtful design and robust structures.

Our purpose is to bring aluminium greenhouses of premium quality within reach of a wider international customer base. Steady expansion, efficient methods and ongoing innovation allow us to maintain favourable pricing for the long term.

What type of aluminium is used in Bloomcabin greenhouse structures?

The greenhouses are constructed with aluminium profiles intended for structures of this kind, offering firm support and resistance to weather and broader environmental exposure.

Because the aluminium withstands corrosion and does not split, the greenhouse frame remains dependable over prolonged use.

Customers select a colour from the RAL range for every aluminium component. Professional powder coating is applied with care to produce an excellent surface finish.

Carefully designed joints between the aluminium sections keep the aluminium greenhouse strong, resilient and stable well into the future.

What optional equipment and accessories are available for Bloomcabin greenhouses?

Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses follow an individually configured specification chosen by the buyer. For each product, the controls at the right of the configurator show which parameters can be selected for that greenhouse.

The configurator identifies any extra amount attached to a design solution, accessory or additional element. Choosing the “?” icon reveals an explanation of the corresponding selection.

The obtainable sizes, equipment and other option groups change according to the greenhouse model and the technical limits of its particular construction.

Customers can choose size, height, roof glazing, wall glazing, decorative glazing bars and any of 36 RAL colours. Door choices cover locks and further doors positioned in another section of the greenhouse . Other possibilities are decorative roof elements, different roof-window mechanisms, fabric curtains and a connection for an integrated chimney. Standard specification includes one roof window operated manually. For greenhouse installation, enquire about coverage at your address, the applicable charge and possible timing.

Are Bloomcabin greenhouses suitable for areas with heavy snowfall?

Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses were checked in structural loading trials and achieved an allowable snow rating of 2.3 kN/m² .

The frame and 4 mm toughened-glass panels are capable of carrying that stated loading. Nevertheless, Bloomcabin recommends that owners remove snow often to limit the chance of structural damage or distortion. Prolonged deposits of ice or snow may change the visible finish of glass and polycarbonate.

Irish sites should be reviewed for exposure, shelter, drainage and foundation conditions.

Are Bloomcabin greenhouses suitable for windy areas?

Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses were tested to a stated maximum permissible wind load of 21 m/s. Above that value, Bloomcabin recommends locating the greenhouse behind appropriate natural or built shelter, or select a wall-attached aluminium greenhouse design. Check the base, anchors, fixings and local wind exposure with a competent adviser.

Is the greenhouse delivered flat-packed or partly assembled?

For safer transport and to protect every structural element, each Bloomcabin greenhouse arrives in separate parts. Thoughtfully compact packing helps limit carriage expense and simplifies unloading when the consignment reaches your address.

Required product documents are included in the packaging. You can obtain the assembly guide by selecting this download . Assembly tools need to be provided by the installer or customer.

Contact customer service with your project and location if you need installation information.

Must a greenhouse be installed by certified specialists only?

Each Bloomcabin greenhouse is designed in enough detail to permit assembly by people other than professional installers. Even so, errors during fitting may harm the completed look or soundness of the greenhouse , which is why an appropriately experienced installer is recommended. Such a specialist understands the assembly method, has the necessary equipment and can make the project easier while reducing the owner’s workload. Installation coverage, charges and scheduling must be checked for the intended location.

Complete the manual’s steps precisely, as incorrect assembly can influence fulfilment of the warranty-certificate requirements.

Does Bloomcabin offer greenhouse installation in Ireland?

Installation in Ireland must be checked for the specific greenhouse, address and schedule. Contact us with those details so we can establish whether a paid service is available and, if so, provide its price and timing.

When a suitable installation team can attend your greenhouse project, professional assembly supports an accurate build and reduces the work required from you.

Does an aluminium greenhouse need planning permission?

Whether a detached greenhouse requires permission in Ireland turns on the site and the detailed exempted-development conditions, not its product name alone.

For rules applying since 27 July 2026, qualifying structures associated with a house are counted together against a 30 m² limit. Their position, height, finishes and the private open space left over all matter. Earlier development, heritage protection or other restrictions can prevent exemption; ask the relevant planning authority about the actual proposal.

An attached greenhouse or conservatory should be considered separately, as should all applicable building-control requirements.

Do greenhouse structures need extra treatment or painting before installation?

Every aluminium component of the greenhouse is delivered ready for assembly. The profiles are finished at the Bloomcabin factory, so no further treatment is required.

Handle all greenhouse parts carefully during unpacking, preventing contact or sharp edges from marking the coating and spoiling the aluminium’s appearance. The factory-applied paint helps shield each component against outdoor exposure throughout later use of the greenhouse.

Does the greenhouse site need to be prepared in advance?

Confirm before installation that the selected part of the garden leaves adequate room for every dimension of the proposed greenhouse , and form a foundation that is sound, steady and accurately levelled. Those conditions reduce the chance of the frame tilting, bowing or becoming distorted after assembly.

Bloomcabin favours a paved foundation because it remains dependable through variable conditions and helps protect the ground below from rainwater erosion as well as movement during repeated freezing and thawing.

Do Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses with a masonry base include bricks or another foundation solution?

Materials for the foundation, whether bricks or another option you select, do not form part of the supplied greenhouse .

The base requires professional design and construction because it supports the complete greenhouse structure. Its workmanship directly affects the final condition of the completed greenhouse, influencing not only its appearance but also performance and durability.

Before selecting a masonry-base greenhouse model , establish a suitable foundation approach before ordering. For your site, verify any applicable planning and building-control requirements with the appropriate local bodies.

How is an aluminium greenhouse packaged for delivery?

Each Bloomcabin greenhouse made from aluminium comes in a compact, heavy-duty timber crate.

Individual parts are wrapped with care before being arranged in a made-to-fit crate. Secured on a pallet, the crate is easier to move when the delivery lorry is being loaded or emptied.

Approximate package dimensions are 1 m high, 2.4 m long and 1 m deep.

Important: observe every handling notice shown on the packaging. One warning states that nothing else may be set or stacked above the crate.

Its travelling position can be upright or horizontal, according to the transport facilities used by the carrier operating in your locality.

What are the delivery charges for Bloomcabin greenhouses?

Delivery charges, where applicable, are calculated during one of the final basket steps. The calculation uses the delivery address provided and the product type, including its weight and package dimensions.

Most Bloomcabin products qualify for free delivery; confirm the particular aluminium greenhouse listing and basket conditions that apply. Bloomcabin delivers across Ireland and its islands. Offer news is shared through Bloomcabin’s Facebook and Instagram channels and by email newsletter; its subscription form appears in the online shop.

Can I track my Bloomcabin order?

After dispatch from the Bloomcabin factory, we receive the necessary shipment details and provide your tracking number in an email.

Can I choose a specific delivery date?

Bloomcabin will make a reasonable effort to meet your preferred date, although timing ultimately follows the logistics partner’s schedule. The carrier contacts you ahead of delivery so the precise time can be agreed.

How is the order delivered?

A tail-lift lorry carries the order to the customer’s stated destination. Unloading takes place at the gate to the property, or at the closest location the vehicle can safely reach, where the carrier sets down the pallet.

The pallet measures approximately 1 m in height, 2.4 m in length and 1 m in depth.

When it arrives, examine the pallet for major transport damage and assess whether anything visible may have compromised the products contained within the package.

Where either pallet or products appear damaged, refuse the consignment and leave the delivery paperwork unsigned. The haulage provider then reports the issue to Bloomcabin so that both parties can determine the best response. After the outcome is settled, a Bloomcabin customer adviser contacts the customer promptly to arrange what happens next.

Is delivery available throughout Ireland?

Yes, Bloomcabin greenhouse delivery covers every Irish address, islands included.

Who should I contact if there is a delivery problem?

Should the carrier determine that the goods cannot be unloaded at your stated destination, Bloomcabin will get in touch promptly after receiving the report. Together, we will review the specific circumstances and agree on the best way forward.

Important: examine the packaging before you sign any delivery paperwork, making sure there is no substantial damage visible on it.

How should the foundation be prepared for installing a greenhouse?

For a secure, properly aligned installation of the greenhouse , start with firm, level support. The original Latvian guidance describes severe winters and soil freezing as deep as 80 cm. That is a Latvian example rather than a design depth for Ireland. For an Irish project, establish the site's soil, drainage, frost exposure and weather exposure before choosing the foundation materials and depth.

For lasting support and security, the usual recommendation is either a concrete foundation or a purpose-made base frame.

Concrete gives one of the most durable base options. Use a concrete layer 10–15 cm thick, increasing the outer edge to as much as 20 cm to improve stability and resistance to frost movement. Add reinforcement, such as wire or metal mesh, to reduce cracking and help the slab remain sound over time. First form a bed of gravel or crushed stone at least 10 cm deep, then compact and level it thoroughly. Place the concrete on this prepared sub-base and verify both the finished level and horizontal alignment. Plan a drainage route that keeps water from building up below the foundation. Where extra support is needed, concrete blocks or suitable foundation brackets may be incorporated into the concrete-base arrangement.

For small greenhouses , paving provides a more adaptable base. Use paving 5–7 cm deep, supported by 10–15 cm of compacted gravel or crushed stone. Place geotextile beneath the paving before work begins; it separates the layers and discourages weeds. This construction lets water drain readily and is relatively uncomplicated to lay. Its flexibility, however, means it may not give a large structure the same degree of support.

A base may also be formed from a timber deck for the greenhouse , provided the structure is robust and weather-resistant. Treat every supporting beam for protection from moisture and insects. Form the frame with sturdy timber members, for example 5×10 cm beams, resting on dependable foundations or concrete blocks. Choose boards intended for exterior construction and apply appropriate moisture treatment. Leave narrow spaces between them so rainwater can escape and air can move through. Avoid direct contact between the deck and the soil: foundation blocks or adjustable levelling supports will help limit timber rot. Use a spirit level across the completed deck. Any slope or irregularity could interfere with the movement of the greenhouse doors or reduce the structure's stability.

Gravel is a straightforward, lower-cost base material. Spread it to a depth of 10–15 cm over ground that has already been thoroughly compacted. Put geotextile on the prepared ground before placing the gravel; this helps suppress weeds and keeps the different materials separated. The resulting bed releases water effectively and does not require a complicated laying process. Bear in mind, though, that it may offer insufficient steadiness for a larger construction.

Points to follow whichever foundation you choose:

Prepare the ground: before any base material is placed, confirm that the entire area is stable, flat and accurately levelled.

Manage water: arrange reliable run-off so moisture cannot remain trapped beneath the greenhouse .

Match materials to the project: account for the dimensions of your aluminium greenhouse and the loading expected at the site.

Allow for Irish site conditions: maritime weather and exposure differ across the country. Consider local wind, shelter, rainfall, drainage, frost and soil behaviour when deciding how deep the foundation should be and which materials to use.

Keep the foundation under review: inspect it periodically and complete repairs as soon as they are needed, so it continues to support the safety and stability of the greenhouse .

Looking after an aluminium greenhouse

What is Accoya® wood?

Why are Bloomcabin aluminium greenhouses so affordable?

At Bloomcabin we combine established know-how with advanced production technology to streamline operations, save time and use fewer manufacturing resources. We make the full range ourselves, keeping high quality at the centre of each stage. Our aluminium greenhouses are developed and manufactured with professional engineering oversight. The engineers resolve technical and aesthetic details together throughout the design and production process, allowing those efficiencies to support a lower product price for customers without compromising our highest quality standards.

How should an aluminium greenhouse be cared for and maintained?

Examine the appearance and working condition of the greenhouse periodically. Look for defects promptly, and remove moss, fallen leaves or anything else collecting in the rain gutters, across the roof or in comparable places.

Thorough upkeep matters most during spring, ahead of the main growing period, and again during autumn, after seasonal use has eased. Give the greenhouse a complete wash: clean its frame and every glass or polycarbonate pane with comfortably warm water containing a gentle detergent. Choose a non-scratch cloth or sponge and work without scouring the surfaces. Abrasive products and high-pressure washing can spoil painted areas and deteriorate sealing rubber.

Empty the gutters of foliage and grime often enough to keep water from pooling or causing harm. This deserves particular attention in winter, because trapped water expands as it freezes and can deform structural parts.

At a minimum, include the connections and vent mechanisms in both the spring and autumn checks. Prompt attention to these areas helps discourage trapped moisture and mould growth.

Although aluminium itself will not rust, surface grime and residue build up as time passes. Wipe these components using a neutral cleaning product, and afterwards wash away every trace with fresh water. Because the profiles carry a powder-applied finish, strong chemicals must be avoided: they may undermine the paint’s protective layer.

Inspect the glazing seals and all remaining rubber pieces for cracks, dryness or movement out of position. Renew any that no longer perform properly. Sound seals help the greenhouse stay weather-tight while supporting a steadier internal temperature.

Once a year, inspect all connections and confirm that screws and fixings remain securely tightened. Strong winds and changing temperatures can gradually loosen them.

When snow builds up heavily in winter, ease the load by clearing it carefully with a snow shovel or soft-bristled broom. Aluminium framing is strong; nevertheless, excessive weight may create strain within the glazing.

Before windy or snowy weather, fasten the vents securely. If the greenhouse remains in winter cultivation, maintain modest ventilation as well.

Keep light levels as high as possible by removing dust and mineral water marks from the glass, paying particular attention during hot weather.

Bloomcabin advises choosing environmentally responsible, neutral cleaners formulated without solvents or acids. That choice is kinder to plants and helps preserve the greenhouse fabric.

With consistent maintenance, close attention to its components and low-impact cleaning, your Bloomcabin aluminiumgreenhouse can continue to look immaculate and function properly throughout many years of use.
